2014-2015 School Year
Fifth graders have been working hard to create awareness about conserving the rain forests! They each designed a logo about conservation based on the song, "We are the Ones." Their designs will featured on reusable bags. They have also been learning about the different types of shading pencils and perfecting their shading skills! They have each drawn a sneaker still life to shade. Check out their art work on Artsonia.com!
Our first project in fifth grade this year has been creating self portraits! We have been learning about facial proportions and discovering different ways to create facial features! We will be creating a school mural of portraits when they are all complete! Check out our final portraits on Artsonia.com!
2013-2014 School Year
Fourth graders have been creating their own planets with student teacher Ms. Schneider.
Students have been learning the coil clay technique and creating beautiful coil clay pots! They learned how to slip and score to attach pieces of clay together. Then they used primary colors to explore color mixing to paint their pots!
Fourth graders have been working hard to create mandalas as part of their study of peace in their expedition! Mandala means circle in sanskrit and mandalas have been used as expressions of feelings in many different cultures and religions!
Below are photos of fourth grade students working together to create a large mural using symbols they created to represent peace! There are also photos of students creating our first DCS Peace Pole! On September 28th, fourth graders are invited to the Fringe Festival from 12-3p.m. to create their symbols as part of the Street Chalk Art Event!
