Second graders studied artist Wayne Thiebauld and his paintings of cakes. This inspired them to create amazing ceramic cupcakes! You can view these on Artsonia.com! Students are now discovering Romare Bearden's collage work from the Harlem Renaissance. They will be creating their own collages based on the places they are visiting on their field studies for expedition!
Students in second grade have started their year in art by read the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds and creating their own dot designs for International Dot Day! They have used circles to create intricate designs just like character in the book. Then we put them all together to make a beautiful dot mural for international dot day! Check it out below! 2013-2014 School Year
First grade students are becoming turtle and tortoise experts! They are learning how to draw their expert turtle/tortoise and are doing a wonderful job!
First graders are discovering landscapes. They are creating landscapes with depth and balance using masking tape, water color paint, palette knife for texture and paint.
Students have discovered the slab clay technique and have made their own ceramic leaves! They used warm colors to paint the leaves and then varnished them to add a shiny finish!
First graders have worked hard to create still life drawing of the expert fruits and vegetables. They also learned how to add value by shading!
Students are working on creating "pop art people" which are simple figures that look like they are moving! They are modeled after Keith Haring's art work. Students will add patterns too and will be painting them so that they really "pop"!
