First graders have not only created ceramic clay leaves but have also become fruit and vegetable experts! They have each created their own fruit or vegetable still life! You can see both projects in the student's electronic portfolios on Artsonia.com!
Students in first grade have started their year in art by read the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds and creating their own dot designs for International Dot Day! They have used circles to create intricate designs just like character in the book. Then we put them all together to make a beautiful dot mural for international dot day! Check it out below! You can check out student's individual designs on Artsonia.com in their student portfolios! These friends also got a chance to work on creating self portraits of themselves!
2013-2014 School Year
Kindergarten students are working with student teacher Ms. Schneider on creating self portraits. They will use collage for the hair!
Kindergartners have been discovering how to mix water color paints to create a winter sky. They will use cut paper and glue to add a winter tree.
Students have been learning how to critique art work and have been looking at Romare Bearden's The Block. They then created their own magical cities using mixed media and collage!
Kindergartners are creating and building letter sculptures! Each student is an expert in one letter for their expedition work and they are using additive sculpture, paper mache and paint to finish their creations!
Kindergarten students have been learning how to create pinch pots! First we practiced the steps using model magic! Then we used real clay! Soon they will paint their pots using primary colors!
Kindergarteners have been working on learning about shapes, lines, and primary colors! We also have been creating art work using letters! For their expedition in art, students will be creating 3D models of letters using a variety of materials.
